Why sunless tan?
We pride ourselves on helping you get your tan on the healthy way — educating clients on the pros of going UV free and protecting your skin. Three solution options filled with skin-loving ingredients, and certified technicians who consult, concoct, and provide a glow custom to you and your skin tone in minutes. The only healthy way to achieve a glow.
What should I wear?
Your Tanning Bar is a judgment free zone and your comfort is our priority. Wear whatever makes you feel your best — some clients go nude, others opt for a bathing suit or bra + underwear. Men are required to be covered with underwear, boxers, or shorts.
What color will I be?
Custom coloring is based on your skin tone — one of the biggest differences between a machine spray booth and a custom airbrush tan by a certified technician. Orange isn't an option here. Go as light or dark as you please; your technician will help you decide coloring based on what you're spraying for (event, vacation, wedding) and your skin tone.
What do I need to do before my appointment?
Prep is essential for even color. At least 12 hours before, shave and exfoliate your whole body (we recommend an exfoliating mitt + a paraben-free, water-based exfoliator) to remove dead skin and old self-tanner. Complete hair removal or nail services ideally 24 hours prior. Arrive with skin completely free of lotions, oils, makeup, and deodorant — wipes are available in the salon.
What do I need to do after my appointment?
A great tan comes from great aftercare. Stay dry for 2–8 hours depending on your solution while the tan develops. Use paraben-free body wash and moisturizer, free of mineral oil and petroleum, to keep the tan hydrated for full, even coverage. We carry multiple luxe body care lines in our salons — ask your technician for recommendations.
I have a big event — when should I come?
We recommend a trial spray at least 2 weeks before the event so we can adjust the coloring for the big day. If you skip the trial, come 2–3 days before the event.
Can I burn or tan through this?
Yes. We're founded on the practice of safe sun — use SPF 30 or higher, reapplied every 2 hours, during outdoor activities. We carry facial and body SPF in the salon that nourishes, protects, and extends your tan.
Why did my tan not last 7–10 days?
Did you exfoliate prior? Are you using products with mineral oil, petroleum, or bar soap? Pat dry after showering, avoid hot showers, and keep skin hydrated (our 100% All Natural Shea Butter helps). Drinking more water alone will make your tan last longer. Avoid mineral oil and petroleum — cheap fillers that dry your skin and break the tan down. Look for paraben-free on anything applied to your skin.
Why does my face fade quicker?
Very common — natural oils plus daily face-washing take the tan off the face (and hands) faster. Try our touch-up Tahitian Tan Mist for face and hands.
Why am I blotchy?
Usually a sign of mineral oil, petroleum, loofahs, or under-hydrated skin. Drink plenty of water and moisturize daily with a good paraben-free lotion. Our certified technicians are always here to help.
Will pools or spas remove my tan?
Pools and hot tubs will fade the tan quicker — chlorine and bleach dry your skin out. If you'll be in chlorinated water, we recommend our Anti-Aging Spray Tan, and Tan Extending Lotion for frequent swimmers (it helps keep your tan up to 2 weeks). Salt water is drying but won't remove your tan completely — quick dips and good moisturizing.
Will my tan fade every time I shower?
Your tan fades naturally like any tan, as long as you keep hydrated. Everyone's skin sheds at different rates — exfoliate prior and moisturize daily to hold your glow up to 2 weeks.
Can I be allergic to this?
Although we use an Eco-Certified organic formula, allergies are possible. For sensitive skin, we recommend trying the spray on a small patch of skin before coming in.
Self tanner vs. spray tan — what's the difference?
A spray tan contains a higher dosage of DHA for longer-lasting, more even, consistent results, with all-natural ingredients that are healthy for your skin. Many self-tanners don't use Eco-Certified DHA and consist mostly of chemicals. Every YTB technician is certified — the best tan in town.
